Mundus vult decipi: Ergo decipiatur, 2020 / Installation with binaural sounds and found objects: plastic fish boxes, silicone tubes, rope, fishing net, dried mussels, crab, lava stones, ceramic figures, seaweeds and water pump, fishing traps... In a collective with Cristina Moreno García.
In October 2020 we spent four days at Sant Carles de la Ràpita in Terres de l’Ebre. Going daily to the port, we were introduced into the arts of fishing by casual conversations with fishermen. 50 years ago, the laws of the sea promoted communication and exchange between the Balearic Islands and fishing in Tarragona. Elderly neighbors of Sant Carles used to spend their childhood in Sóller at Mallorca. This installation-fountain is about circuits and connection. How does energy flow? How do objects that have memory and energy link with the idea of healing. With this fountain we talk about group-healing with healing waters. The project started with an artistic investigation on romantic medicine of early 19th century and the Theory of Animal Magnetism by German Dr. Franz Anton Mesmer. The piece is inspired by the "baquet" built by Mesmer, now adapted to the reality of this territory including elements of the Ebro Sea such as fishing gear and crustacean remains.
