Laia Ventayol (1984, Mallorca) lives and works in Bayreuth. In her work she observes the movement, transition, ephemeral transformation and change that takes part in her everyday life. She started her studies in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and continued untill 2016 at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Nürnberg. She specialized in moving image, particularly in performance practices, by Prof. Heike Baranowsky. In 2017 she received the "Meisterschüler" qualification for her carreer in Nürnberg.
She had solo exhibitions at CCA Andratx Mallorca in 2012, at Das Pumphaus Lauterbourg in France in 2014, at Krafft'sches Haus Nürnberg, taking part in the festival for art in public space Die Blaue Nacht in 2016, and at the Gallery Maior in Palma de Mallorca in 2017. She also participated in several group exhibitions in Germany and Spain, some of them are: "Die offene Seite" at Wiensowski & Harbord Berlin in 2014, "Terra Recognita - Kapitel III" at Z-Bau Nürnberg in 2016, "Goldrausch 2017" at Kunstquartier Bethanien in Berlin and "Soft Edges: I can shape it as I will" at tête Berlin also in 2017.
Her work has been supported by the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Ministery for Arts, Investigation and Science of Bavaria and the Berlin Senate among others.
